This weeks Blog is not my words but that of my Pastor - Alan Jackson
The words ring very true to us as believers...
John 6:63 (NIV®)
“The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life.”
When we talk about spiritual gifts, or the manifestations of the Spirit, sometimes we speak about those things as if they are confined to a religious service or spiritual gathering. The place we most need the expression of the power of God is in the midst of our daily lives. Whether we’re making business decisions, disciplining our children, or interacting with people at the grocery store, the gifts of God’s Spirit are necessary if we are going to fulfill God’s assignments for our lives. Jesus said that the Spirit gives life and that His words were full of the Spirit. If I attempt to serve God or speak for God with my own abilities, I will surely fail, because my strength and stamina and intellect are limited. This isn’t unique to you or me, and it’s not a twenty-first-century phenomenon. None of the Bible characters we call heroes could have done what they did without the Spirit of God. Like them, we want to be aware of His presence and humbly willing to ask for His help.
THINK ABOUT IT
If you have ever stammered through a public acknowledgement of Jesus, you understand how beautiful the right word at the right time can be. Those apt, timely, and life-filled words are what the Holy Spirit provides, so invite and welcome His participation into your encounters.
